A better Aquazone is on the way!

July 2019: the swimming pools at Aquazone are currently closed while new air handling and water treatment systems are being installed.

Work on the $985,000 upgrade began on July 1, 2019, and will take up to seven weeks to complete.

During the works the 25m, program and leisure pools will be emptied and the aquatics area closed.

"This project is going to result in a better indoor pool environment and a safer water treatment operation,” Warrnambool City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Schneider said.

“We know that AquaZone is a valued community asset used by large numbers of people and it’s important that we invest in the centre to ensure it meets the community’s expectations,” Mr Schneider said.

“Moving from a gas to a liquid chlorine system is safer for patrons and also staff operating the system.”

The gymnasium, crèche and group fitness classes are operating as usual during the upgrade.

All prepaid memberships and swim school enrolments have been automatically suspended while the pools are closed.
